As expected, Sage Hill and Crean Lutheran are seeded 1-2, respectively, in Division 6.

Those teams finished in that order in the Academy League. The league’s No. 3 team, St. Margaret’s, also made the playoffs.

The Academy League is a seven-team league for some sports. In baseball, it is a six-team league. Whitney of Cerritos did not field a varsity baseball team this year.

Sage Hills and Crean Lutheran both are good enough to play in the Division 6 championship game June 4 at UC Riverside. They have the pitching depth to get there, and plenty of good players at other positions, too.

In Thursday’s first round, Sage Hill plays at home against Silver Valley, Crean Lutheran is home against Chadwick and St. Margaret’s is at Providence of Burbank.
