The Huntington Beach boys volleyball team will attempt to end a third consecutive season as CIF Southern California Regional champion.

The Oilers, who survived the CIF-SS Division 1 championships with a five-set victory over Corona del Mar on Saturday for their third consecutive CIF title, have also won consecutive regional titles.

Huntington Beach (37-0) is the top seed in Division I and will host Palisades of the L.A. City Section, in the first round Tuesday night at 7.

“We have to have a whole other mindset,” Huntington Beach setter Josh Tuaniga said. “This a whole different climb that we have to take.”

The Oilers defeated Loyola of Los Angeles in the previous two regional finals. The Cubs are the second seed in this year’s field.

In Division II, Corona del Mar is the top seed and will host Damien of La Verne in the first round. The Sea Kings are the defending Division II champions.

Saddleback Valley Christian, who won the CIF-SS Division 4 title Saturday, is the top seed in Division III. The Warriors (28-4) have a first-round match against Christian of El Cajon.

St. Margaret’s is the fourth seed and will host L.A. Jordan. If the Tartans and Warriors are victorious Tuesday, they will meet for a third time this season on Thursday night.

At the bottom half of the bracket is Laguna Beach. The second-seeded Breakers defeated the Warriors in last year’s Division III final. The Breakers host Rancho Dominguez of Long Beach in the first round.

The regional semifinals are Thursday and the regional finals are Saturday at Cerritos College.
