Breaking down the Division 2AA bracket in the CIF-SS girls basketball playoffs:
DIVISION 2AA
Top four seeds: Redondo Union, Mira Costa, Eisenhower, Santa Barbara
County representatives: Canyon, Tesoro, Garden Grove, Woodbridge, Mission Viejo
Rapid reaction: As the 11-seed in the bracket, Woodbridge is a team to keep an eye on. The Warriors have gotten healthy here in the last week, and put together back-to-back quality games against Irvine and Beckman, earning itself a split of the Pacific Coast League title in the process.
Senior forward Annika Walker looked like she returned to form a week ago, averaging 17 points down the stretch.
On the top half of the bracket, Tesoro has the tools and experience to win a couple of games. The inside-outside duo of Kasey Smit and Priya Prasad played a major role in the Titans going 21-5 in the regular season. Both Smit and Prasad are seniors, so they’ll have the added motivation of making a run in their final year.
A semifinal game against Redondo Union – a team that beat Troy twice this season – would be a tough draw for Tesoro.
