A final look at Orange County baseball:

• Capistrano Valley Christian lost two CIF-SS baseball championship games before winning one this year. Santa Margarita lost two CIF baseball championship games before winning one this year. Aliso Niguel and Foothill lost in championship games this year, the second CIF baseball finals lost for both so perhaps redemption is coming soon for Aliso Niguel and Foothill.

• Six players on this year’s Capistrano Valley Christian team were starters on last year’s team that lost in the CIF-SS Division 6 championship game. Three of this year’s Eagles were on the 2012 team that lost in the Division 6 final. “For us,” CVC coach Clemente Bonilla said, “Saturday was just another day at UC Riverside.”

• Except it wasn’t because not every day does somebody pitch a no-hitter in a CIF championship game. Capistrano Valley Christian’s AJ Discenzo fired a no-hitter Saturday in the Eagles’ 5-0 win over Sierra Canyon of Chatsworth in the Division 6 championship game at UCR.

• A team needs to get on a hot streak to win a CIF baseball championship. CVC had won four in a row going into the playoffs then won its five playoff games by a cumulative score of 34-9. Two playoff wins were shutouts.

• The Eagles had plenty of hot hitters, with Parker Coss getting two hits including an RBI double in the win over Sierra Canyon. Zack Anast had two home runs and five RBI in an 11-0 quarterfinals win over Desert Christian Academy of Bermuda Dunes, the team that team Capistrano Valley Christian lost to in last year’s Division 6 final.

• Aliso Niguel has been in two CIF-SS Division 2 championship games the past three seasons. Both games were losses for the Wolverines, but they were close ones: 3-2 to Pacifica in 2012; 5-3 to Temecula Valley on Friday at Dodger Stadium.

• Last year, Aliso lost to eventual-finalist Temecula Valley in the Division 2 quarterfinals. The Wolverines playoffs record over the past three seasons is 12-3.

• On Friday at Dodger Stadium, Temecula Valley scored four runs in the first inning. “Things didn’t go our way in the first inning,” Aliso Niguel coach Craig Hanson said. “It’s hard to come back from that.”

• The San Joaquin League, which includes Capistrano Valley Christian, is a Division 5 baseball league the next two school years. Other divisional changes: the Empire League goes from Division 2 to Division 1; and the Pacific Coast League goes from Division 2 to Division 3.

• JSerra, eliminated by Foothill in the Division 1 semifinals, returns eight starters next year. The Lions will play in the National High School Invitational tournament in North Carolina.

• The All-Orange County team will be published Saturday. All-league teams will also be published Saturday.

• Ten players who were seniors on county baseball teams this year were selected in last week’s First-Year Player Draft: Orange Lutheran infielder Josh Morgan, third round by Texas; Edison infielder Brian Schales, fourth round by Miami; Los Alamitos pitcher Jacob Nix, fifth round by Houston; Esperanza infielder Tristan Hildebrandt, 16th round by St. Louis; Newport Beach pitcher Connor Seabold, 19th round by Baltimore; Brea Olinda pitcher Cameron Bishop, 32nd round by Arizona; Orange Lutheran pitcher Garrett King, 36th round by the New York Mets; Villa Park outfielder Brandon Gonzalez, 36th round by Kansas City; Santa Margarita pitcher Griffin Canning, 38th round by Colorado; El Dorado catcher Nathan Rodriguez, 39th round by Colorado.

• Morgan, who signed a letter of intent with UCLA, said he intends to sign with the Rangers. Hildebrandt, who signed with Cal State Fullerton, said he will examine his options. “If the money’s right,” Hildebrandt said, “then I will sign with the Cardinals.”

• The Ryan Lemmon Showcase, a series of games for top graduating senior players, is Friday and Saturday at Windrow Park in Irvine. On Friday, it’s the Trinity League vs. the South Coast League at 4:30 p.m., and Century vs. Sunset at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, Empire vs. Sea View at 1:30 p.m., and Pacific Coast League vs. Freeway at 4:30 p.m.

• How this panelist voted on the final county top 10 this week: 1. Santa Margarita; 2. Foothill; 3. JSerra; 4. Aliso Niguel; 5. Trabuco Hills; 6. Fountain Valley; 7. Huntington Beach; 8. Dana Hills; 9. Edison; 10. Orange Lutheran.
