Edison senior MacKenzie Cerda, who scored five goals in the Chargers’ run to the CIF-SS girls soccer championship match, was selected most valuable player in Division 1, the CIF-SS announced.

Cerda scored the winning goal in two of the Chargers’ four postseason victories.

Santa Margarita coach Chuck Morales, who guided the Eagles to the Division 1 title, was named the division’s coach of the year. Santa Margarita upset top-seeded Harvard-Westlake of Studio City in the semifinals and beat Edison in the final to claim its first CIF title since 2002.

St. Margaret’s Alex Barbaresi was the MVP in Division 5. Barbaresi scored the winning goal for the Tartans in their victory against La Cañada in the Division 5 final.

St. Margaret’s Johnny Marmelstein was selected as the Division 5 coach of the year.
