GIRLS BASKETBALL
CIF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA REGIONALS
SECOND ROUND
Division 1
Camarillo (28-4) at Troy (23-7)
Tipoff: 6 p.m.
Troy bounced back from an 0-2 record in the CIF-SS Open Division by defeating Mt. Carmel of San Diego, 53-37. Troy has allowed 50 or more points just four times this season, but CIF-SS Division 1A runner-up Camarillo has been held to less than 50 just three times.
Division 2
Mira Costa of Manhattan Beach (23-11) at El Dorado (27-5)
Tipoff: 5:30 p.m.
El Dorado is a win away from a likely rematch with West Torrance, the team it lost to in the CIF-SS 2A final a week ago. Brooke Salas and Jaylin Jones continue to fill up the stat sheet, but El Dorado could use scoring from its role players to get off to a faster start. It trailed at the end of each of the first three quarters Wednesday against Serra of San Diego.
Division 3
Garfield of Los Angeles (24-12) at Santa Margarita (19-13)
Tipoff: 5:30 p.m.
After dropping four of six games to end the regular season, Santa Margarita is 6-0 in the postseason. The Eagles’ strength in its first-round win against Central of El Centro was its balance; Tori Anderson, Taylor Donahue, Zaire Williams and Nikki Wilkins all scored in double digits.
Division 4
Oaks Christian of Westlake Village (20-11) at JSerra (22-10)
Tipoff: 6 p.m.
JSerra’s first-round final score in the regionals caused a double take when it held Ocean View Christian of San Diego to two field goals in a 67-4 rout. JSerra will need contributions from Megan House, Lexi Vail and Corinne Bogle to complement Coco Miller, something that didn’t happen in its CIF-SS 4AA championship loss.
Fairmont Prep (26-4) at Serra of Gardena (23-4)
Tipoff: 6 p.m.
Fairmont Prep will have its hands full with Serra, the top seed in Division 4 and a CIF-SS Open Division participant. Fairmont Prep showed resiliency in battling back from an 11-point deficit at Lindsay on Wednesday, led by the play of Samantha Clement and Rachel Williams.
Division 5
Orangewood Academy (24-8) at Immanuel of Reedley (20-6)
Tipoff: 7:30 p.m.
Orangewood Academy is looking for a win to set up a probable rematch of the CIF-SS 5A title game with Ribet Academy of Los Angeles in the semifinals. Orangewood Academy pummeled Foothill Christian of El Cajon, 70-21 in the first round.
