ALL-COUNTY GIRLS WATER POLO TEAM
KALEY DODSON
Los Alamitos, Sr., defender
The Sunset League co-player of the year was a two-way threat for the Griffins. The Stanford-signee was team's top field defender but also scored 65 goals. Dodson was selected all-tournament at Villa Park, Santa Barbara and Irvine. The U.S. junior team player also was first-team All-CIF Division 1.
RACHEL FATTAL
Los Alamitos, So., center
Fattal emerged as a dangerous scorer, leading the Griffins with 79 goals. She also proved she can play with the best. Fattal erupted for five goals against Dos Pueblos in the finals of the Irvine SoCal tournament. She was all-tournament at Santa Barbara and Irvine. Fattal was first-team all-Sunset League.
KATE KLIPPERT
Newport Harbor, Sr., defender
The Cal signee was multi-talented contributor for the Division 1 runner-up. She was the Sailors' top defender, second-leading scorer (57 goals) and top sprinter. Klippert also scored four goals against rival Corona del Mar in the semifinals. She was first-team All-CIF Division 1 and All-Sunset League.
SAVANNA SMITH
Los Alamitos, Jr., goalie
The 5-foot-10 keeper helped anchor a stingy defense by making 192 saves. Smith had a season-high 13 blocks against Long Beach Wilson in the Division 1 quarterfinals. She was selected MVP of the Villa Park Classic and first-team All-CIF Division 1.
DANIELLE WARDE
Edison, Sr., attacker
The swift attacker used her all-around game to lead Edison to a third-place finish at the Irvine tournament and a trip to the Division 1 quarterfinals. Warde led the county in steals (120) and finished sixth in goals (102). The UC Irvine signee also had 39 assists. Warde was first-team All-CIF Division 1 and all-tournament at Villa Park and Irvine.
ALYS WILLIAMS
Edison, So., attacker
Williams emerged as a force on offense and defense. She collected 84 goals and 55 assists to go along with 89 steals. Her 55 assists ranked second in the county. A gifted perimeter shooter and quick on the counterattack, Williams was all-tournament at Villa Park and Irvine, and first-team all-Sunset League.
COACH OF THE YEAR
ETHAN DAMATO
Laguna Beach, second year
The Laguna Beach alum guided the Breakers back to the CIF Division 2 finals despite graduating a trio of standouts in 2009, including player of the year Annika Dries. Laguna Beach (22-9) finished as the Division 2 runner-up. Damato was selected Division 2 co-coach of the year. The Breakers took fifth at the Santa Barbara tournament, matching their best finish in the event.
