Corona del Mar girls basketball coach Mark Decker stepped down from his post on Tuesday morning, CdM Athletic Director Don Grable confirmed earlier today.

Decker coached the Sea Kings for the past 10 years, and in the last three seasons he has guided the team to three consecutive CIF-SS semifinals followed by appearances in the state tournament  in each of those campaigns.

Decker will remain a social science teacher at Corona del Mar, but has opted out of coaching to spend more time with his family.

“Mark has been extremely dedicated in building up our girls basketball program to a level in which our varsity team has won more than 20 games in each of the last three seasons and made multiple deep playoff runs,” Grable said in a statement. “He is looking forward to actually getting to ski with his family on a winter break.”

The school will begin accepting applications for a new head coach immediately.
