The Laguna Hills wrestling team ended the first day of the Blackwatch Tournament at Upland High in fourth place.

Wednesday, the Hawks rallied strong down the stretch to climb to the top of the standings, finishing with 215.5 points to take the overall title.

The Hawks had nine medalists, including champion Nick Volpe at 145 pounds. Volpe began the tournament as the fifth seed and steamrolled his opposition, winning four matches by fall and another by major decision.

Steven Kroesen advanced to the finals at 120 pounds, before losing to Nate Yanez of Roosevelt in the finals.

Jean Miranda (160) and Ramsey Cole (170) finished third at their weights. Aidan Lagrasta (113) and Mario Moz (220) were fourth. Alan Rojas was fifth at 138 pounds, Ricky Morales ended up sixth at 195 and Diego Gomez finished eighth at 152 pounds.
