OCVarsity has the pairings and analysis for all of the CIF-SS boys basketball divisions.

DIVISION 1AA

Top four seeds: 1. Etiwanda; 2. Santa Monica; 3. St. John Bosco; 4. Sonora.

O.C. teams in this division: Los Alamitos (21-6); Foothill (17-10); Sonora (25-3); Edison (22-4).

Playoff dates: First round (Feb. 15), Second round (Feb. 17), Quarterfinals (Feb. 21), Semifinals (Feb. 24), Championship game (March 3 or 4).

FRYER’S OUTLOOK: The top 14 teams in the Division 1AA rankings were selected to the Open Division. So this is a fairly wide-open division. … Last year, six of the teams in the 1AA 32-team bracket were at-large teams with sub-.500 overall records. No sub-.500 teams are allowed in basketball playoffs this year, so this is a 25-team division. Seven teams have first-round byes, including Freeway League champion Sonora and Sunset League co-champion Los Alamitos. Interestingly, Sunset League co-champ Edison has a first-round game, a home game against Inglewood (14-12). … If Foothill beats Calabasas in the first round, the Knights would play at Sonora in the second round Friday – that’s a very good Orange County game. … The best Orange County team in this division is Edison. The Chargers were not healthy last week when they lost to Los Alamitos. A cold virus was working its way through the roster. If Edison is healthy for the playoffs, the Chargers can advance to the finals where the likely opponent would be Etiwanda (18-11).

All games 7 p.m. unless noted.
