No. 3 University 12, No. 2 Dana Hills 6: Sophomore Dana Feng and the Trojans singles lineup took eight of nine sets against a talented Dolphins squad, spearheading a tremendous University outing in an early-season showdown between two of the county’s elites.

Despite graduating a load of talent from last year, the Trojans are off to a 3-0 start, having knocked off No. 7 Santa Margarita and No. 10 Fountain Valley in addition to Tuesday’s result.

No. 1 Corona del Mar 16, Los Alamitos 2: Sea Kings senior Jasie Dunk swept her singles sets. 6-2, 6-0, 6-0, and CdM’s doubles lineup collected all nine points in pairs play, cruising to a lopsided victory over the Griffins.

Sina Schwenk-Mueller and Grace Jennings were the only doubles tandem to play all three sets for the Sea Kings, and the duo impressed with 6-1, 6-2, 6-2 score lines. The Sea Kings improved to 2-0 and will play JSerra on Wednesday before the Battle of the Bay against Newport Harbor on Thursday.    

No. 4 Northwood 12, No. 7 Santa Margarita 6: First-team All-County performer Kerisa Lin won all three of her sets, as did the doubles team of Megan Mansonhing and Angelyn Le, which guided the Timberwolves to a decisive victory over the visiting Eagles.

Since a season-opening loss to Dana Hills, Northwood has reeled off four straight wins and will travel to take on Huntington Beach on Thursday.

No. 5 San Clemente 14, No. 10 Fountain Valley 4: The Tritons jumped out to a 5-1 lead after the first round and retained momentum throughout the remainder of the afternoon to remain unbeaten with a win over the host Barons. 

San Clemente junior Lindsay Hung won a tightly contested first round set against Fountain Valley No. 1 Hanh Pham, 6-4. Hung swept her sets to lead the charge by the Tritons (7-0).

Aliso Niguel 9, Newport Harbor 9: Seniors Jami Pinter and Alisa Ogranovich both swept on the singles side as the Wolverines notched a huge win over the Sailors on games, 75-69.

Aliso Niguel is off to a 3-0 start, having also earned wins over Woodbridge, Tesoro and Newport Harbor.
