Corona del Mar improves to 2-0, while Dana Hills falls to 0-2.

The Sea Kings led 52-0 at the half. Junior defensive back Cameron Kormos added to the touchdown total with a 46-yard interception return at the end of the first half, and junior kicker Jason Neiger contributed a 34-yard field goal.

Both of the Dolphins’ touchdowns came in the third quarter.

The first was a 3-yard punch-in from leading rusher Joe Rice. The second was a 32-yard pass from sophomore quarterback Corey Cisowski to junior receiver Zack Schuman.

Cisowski finished the game completing 17 of 33 attempts for 208 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

Rice ran for 46 yards.

The Dana Hills crowd, watching the home opener of the school’s 43rd year of football, never lost enthusiasm, with chants of “I believe that we will win” continuing deep into the fourth quarter.

High points for Dana Hills came when, after fumbling a kickoff, the Dolphins forced a three-and-out, causing Corona del Mar to settle for a field goal.

With 10 minutes left in the game, Dana Hills junior receiver Charlie Bortnick suffered an injury. Bortnick left the field to chants of “We love Charlie” from the stands. Bortnick returned to the game and caught a 46-yard pass for a TD that was called back by a penalty.
