The Register’s All-County boys lacrosse first team.

Player of the year: Ryan Harnisch

St. Margaret’s, Sr., Face-off Specialist

Harnisch is the Register’s player of the year for the second time in three years. He earned the honor for the first time as a sophomore. This season, he led St. Margaret’s to the county and Southern Section titles. Harnisch isn’t only strong on face-offs. He had a pair of three goal-performances this season. He committed to the University of Denver as a sophomore.

Coach of the Year: Glen Miles

St. Margaret’s

Miles is the Register’s coach of the year for the second time in three years. He earned the award the first time in 2013. He led the Tartans to the Orange County and Southern Section championships. His teams have advanced to at least the county championship in three of the previous four years. He led San Clemente to the finals in 2012 before moving to St. Margaret’s. He is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and a member of the 1990 U.S. lacrosse team that won the World Championship.

Kevin Cox

St. Margaret’s, Jr., Midfield

Cox scored a pair of goals in the Orange County title game to get the Tartans headed on the path toward victory. He had 40 goals and finished with 51 points. Cox also had 18 ground balls.

Hoyt Crance

Corona del Mar, Sr., Goalie

Crance was a first-team All-County goalie last season. He turned in another first-team worthy performance this season. He averaged 4.65 saves a game and had a save percentage of 68 percent. The Yale-bound senior made 88 saves and had a goals-against average of 2.21. He finished with 14 victories.

Hugh Crance

Corona del Mar, Sr., Defense

Defense was the name of the game for the Sea Kings, and Crance was a crucial part of their success. He was All-County first-team last season, too. Crance is headed to Notre Dame. He had 37 ground balls and 19 forced turnovers.

Sherwin Gersten

Corona del Mar, Sr., Midfield

Gersten was one of the versatile performers for the Sea Kings. He scored 27 goals with 14 assists. Gersten had 26 ground balls and forced four turnovers.

Brett Greenlee

Corona del Mar, Sr., Long-Stick Midfield

Greenlee makes a second consecutive appearance on the All-County first team. Greenlee, who is headed to the University of Denver, had 37 ground balls and forced 24 turnovers

Samuel Harnisch

St. Margaret’s, Jr., Attack

On a team loaded with offensive weapons, the younger Harnisch established himself as an important contributor on a team that swept the county and Southern Section titles. Harnisch had 82 points with 65 goals and 17 assists. He also had 21 ground balls.

Nate Marano

Foothill, Sr., Attack

Marano was the Register’s Orange County player of the year in 2014. This year, he scored 99 goals and finished with 121 points. Marano, who is heading to the University of Denver, averaged five goals a game this season. He scored a season-high eight goals twice. He had 30 ground balls.

Chad Redfearn

Corona del Mar, Sr., Defenisve Midfield

Redfearn was another key to the Sea Kings’ defense. He had 34 ground balls and forced eight turnovers. CdM allowed five or more goals just four times thanks to the effort of players like Redfearn.

Chris Reem

Foothill, Jr., Defenisve Midfield

Reem was a key cog in the Knights’ defense. He had 37 ground balls and 10 takeaways. Foothill allowed just 7.4 goals a game this season.

Eric Rubak

Santa Margarita, Jr., Defense

Rubak had a clear percentage of 84. He had 45 ground balls and forced 42 turnovers. He scored three goals this season.

Jake Schleppy

JSerra, Sr., Midfield

Schleppy was a solid contributor on offense. Perhaps his biggest moment came in the county semifinals when he scored the winning goal in overtime. The High Point-bound senior finished with 45 goals.

Kennedy Solomon

JSerra, Sr., Defense

It wasn’t an easy night on the field if you were being marked by Solomon. Solomon, who is headed to the University of Maryland-Baltimore County, had 50 ground balls. He earned All-County second-team honors last season.

James Yanes

JSerra, Sr., Attack

The Hofstra-bound senior was an offensive force for the Lions. He scored 73 goals with 20 assists, leading the Lions to the county championship game. Yanes scored four goals as the Lions upset top-seeded Foothill in the county semifinals. Yanes earned second-team honors last season.
