Los Alamitos (13-6) vs. Beckman (15-2)
Where/when: Aliso Niguel High, Wednesday, 5:30 p.m.
Outlook: The Griffins and Patriots face off in a rematch of last year’s county championship game, which was won by Los Alamitos, 15-12. That was the Griffins’ fifth consecutive county title, and now they will be aiming for their sixth under first-year coach Emily Mukai. Beckman reached the title game by knocking off top-seeded and undefeated Capistrano Valley, 13-11, in the semifinals. Savannah Krause and Shea O’Donnell starred in that game for the Patriots, who beat Los Alamitos, 15-13, in March. The winner of this game advances to face the Los Angeles County champion on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Huntington Beach High.
BOYS
Foothill (19-1) vs. JSerra (17-4)
Where/when: Aliso Niguel High, Wednesday, 7:30 p.m.
Outlook: The Knights beat the Lions, 13-12, in April. JSerra, led by Mitch Kingsley and Jake Henigman, has been all about avenging losses this postseason. The Lions lost their previous two encounters with St. Margaret’s and Corona del Mar, but knocked the schools out in the quarterfinals and semifinals, respectively. The Knights have received major contributions from Nate Marano and Ryan Blank, and will try to win their first county title since 2011. The winner of this game advances to face the Los Angeles County champion on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Huntington Beach High.
