Several county teams and athletes were in action Saturday throughout greater Southern California and across the Pacific Ocean in Hawaii.

Here is a brief look at some of the highlights from Saturday’s cross country action.

At the Kamehameha Invitational:

No. 1 Dana Hills opened the season in impressive and victorious fashion, scoring a perfect 15 points to claim the team title in Keaau, Hawaii.

The Dolphins had all five of their scoring runners finish in sub-17 minutes, led by Jake Ogden, who won the race in a time of 16:14.

Gavin Diem (16:22), Mason Coppi (16:47), Timmy Wilson (16:50), and Wyler Svoboda (16:52) rounded the top five for Dana Hills.

Hilo High (90) was second behind the Dolphins, while Mid-Pacific Institute (106) was third.

Joey Benrubi (17:01) and Alex Smith (17:24) finished sixth and ninth respectively for Dana Hills.

At the Great Cow Run:

Brea Olinda’s Austin Tamagno set a new sophomore course record en route to claiming an individual victory at Cerritos Regional Park.

Tamagno clocked a winning time of 14:31, edging El Modena’s Sydney Gidabuday, who finished second in a time of 14:55.

Fountain Valley’s Hunter Gulino was third in a time of 15:06.

The Barons (147) placed third overall as a team, behind Redondo Union (84) and Loyola (87).

El Modena (169) was sixth and Brea Olinda (170) was seventh.

At the Kaiser High School Cross Country Invitational:

Woodbridge claimed the team title at Central Oahu Regional Park in Hawaii.

The Warriors scored 55 points, defeating second place Punahou High (100) and third place Kamehameha High (124).

Jackson Marshall was the individual race winner, clocking a meet winning time of 16:12 on the 5k (3.1 mile) course.

Jacob Suiste (17:16) finished eighth for Woodridge.

At the Bronco Cross Country Invitational:

El Dorado placed third in the team competition at Cal Poly Pomona.

The Golden Hawks (115 points) had three runners score in the top 25, led by Jonathan Sheatz (15:46) who finished in 14th place.

Mater Dei’s Josh Adams was the county’s top individual runner in the race, crossing the finish line ninth in a time of 15:39.

Behind Adams and Monarchs teammate Jonathan McClure (15:43), the Monarchs (139) placed fifth.

Newport Harbor (170) was seventh.
