Outlook: Two streaking teams and contrasting styles collide at a stadium named in honor of Granada Hills graduate John Elway. Top-seeded Sierra Canyon has won 12 consecutive games while third-seeded Corona del Mar has rattled off 12 straight victories after a season-opening loss. The Trailblazers won their first 14 games last season en route to the CIF-SS Mid-Valley Division title. Sierra Canyon is considered a rising small-school powerhouse coached by Jon Ellinghouse, who guided the school to a Division IV state title in 2011. Corona del Mar is seeking its first section title since its 16-0 season in 2013. Sierra Canyon has rushed for 3,229 yards and averages 248.4 yards per game on the ground. Bobby Cole leads the attack with 1,903 yards and 28 TDs and benefits running behind UCLA commit Kanan Ray (6-4, 275). Corona del Mar counters with Cal committed quarterback Chase Garbers, who has passed for 3,699 yards and 46 touchdowns. Junior Tae Le is his favorite target with 73 catches for 1,241 yards and 22 TDs. Both offenses average over 40 points per game. The Sea Kings will have to watch defensive lineman Chris Cannon (5-10, 210), who has racked up 18 sacks. Corona del Mar’s Bryce Clabaugh and Teddy Barber have 11.5 and 10.5 sacks, respectively. CdM has pulled out one-point wins the last two weeks, topping Lompoc, 35-34, in the semifinals and Colony of Ontario, 49-48, in the second round.
