He was 6 for 9 with three RBIs, two doubles, four runs scored and pitched a one-hitter as the Vanguards last week beat Brea Olinda, Laguna Beach and Yorba Linda. Conine, a senior pitcher/third baseman who signed with Cal State Fullerton, struck out 11 in the win over Laguna Beach. For the season his is batting .44 and is 4-1 with a 0.60 ERA.
