ANAHEIM COLONISTS

Last season: 6-4 overall, 3-2 league
Scouting report: The Colonists are loaded on offense with Brandon Lopez, Joel Motes de Oca and Kevin Montoya returning after solid seasons as juniors last fall. Lopez was the third-ranked quarterback in the league, completing 53 of 100 passes for 898 yards and eight touchdowns. He also ran for 320 yards on 88 carries. Montes de Oca was the third-leading rusher in the league, gaining 686 yards on 99 carries. Montoya added 142 yards on 36 carries. They should do the bulk of the work in the Colonists backfield, but Raymond Serna will be featured as well. As a sophomore last fall, he rushed for 63 yards. The defensive line and secondary will also be among the Colonists’ strengths. Defensive tackle Kevin Montoya returns for his senior season after finishing last season with 48 tackles and five sacks, and Brandon Lopez will start at strong safety after posting 62 tackles in 2014.
Bottom line: Scoring points should not be a problem, and the Colonists might need every point. The team has a young, inexperienced group of linebackers.
