Left-hander Cole Brosnan scored five goals and Connor Turnbow-Lindenstadt added three as Newport Harbor’s ninth-ranked boys water polo team handled visiting No. 6 Dana Hills, 14-4, Thursday in the second round of the South Coast Tournament.

Goalie Max Sandberg added nine saves and four steals for the Sailors, who led, 9-3, at halftime.

Newport Harbor (6-1) plays host to top-seeded Harvard-Westlake of Studio City in the quarterfinals Friday at 6 p.m.

In other second round matches Thursday:

Mater Dei 17, Santa Barbara 7: Jackson Seybold scored six goals and Kirby Slater added three to lead the six-time defending South Coast champion Monarchs (7-1) at Corona del Mar. Mater Dei plays at Corona del Mar in the quarterfinals Friday night at 6.

Corona del Mar 12, Laguna Beach 6: Tamir Avital scored four goals and Will Rodosky added three to lead the host Sea Kings into the quarterfinals against Mater Dei.

Orange Lutheran 20, Santa Margarita 10: Ash Molthen scored six goals and Hannes Daube added five as the visiting Lancers reached the quarterfinals. Molthen also had five assists.

The Lancers play No. 12 Agoura, which upset No. 5 Loyola, 9-7, in the quarterfinals Friday night at Santa Margarita at 6.

Foothill 11, El Toro 9: JJ Hornecker scored a power-play goal with 1:24 left to help lift the Knights into the quarterfinals. Arash Izadmanesh had 11 saves and Joe Molina added three goals for Foothill. Chad Nelson netted three goals for El Toro, which led, 7-5, at halftime.

Foothill plays host to Huntington Beach in the quarterfinals Friday at 6 p.m.

Huntington Beach 10, The Bishop’s 3: Curtis Jarvis scored four goals and Patrick Saunders made 14 saves for the Oilers at Foothill. Huntington Beach’s Quinten Osborne added three goals.
