Valencia named Jason Gray as the head coach of its football team on Wednesday.

Gray was a Valencia assistant coach for 26 years, and has been a teacher there for seven years.

Gray replaces Shawn Racobs who coached the Tigers for one season. Racobs replaced Mike Marrujo, the school’s coach for 35 seasons.

In February, Racobs said he was fired as Valencia’s coach. The school did not comment, which is not unusual as public schools rarely comment publicly on personnel issues.

Valencia finished 4-7 overall in 2016. The Tigers went 4-1 in the Empire League and shared the league championship with Tustin.
