A poll of Orange County media members (team records through Sunday):

1. Mater Dei (13-2, 50 poll points)

Monarchs went 2-2 in Beach Ball Classic, annually one of better tournaments in the nation.

2. Santa Margarita (9-5, 43)

Eagles much better than their record suggests; most-recent loss to Redondo, No. 5 in CIF-SS 1AA rankings.

3. Los Alamitos (12-3, 41)

Griffins advanced to championship game of Under Armour tournament, were short-handed in finals loss to Roosevelt of Eastvale.

4. Orange Lutheran (12-2, 36)

Lancers won championship of tournament in Mesa, Ariz. Trinity League starts with home game against Mater Dei.

5. Villa Park (10-4, 30)

Spartans went 3-1 in Max Preps tournament in the desert, with one of the wins over Edison.

6. Foothill (11-3, 25)

Winners of the Orange Holiday Classic, Knights were champions of two of the three tournaments in which they played.

7. JSerra (12-2, 16)

One of the county’s hotter teams, Lions won championship of Lakewood Xmas Classic.

8. Servite (11-4, 11)

After first-round loss to Yorba Linda, Friars won three in a row to capture consolation championship of Orange Holiday Classic.

9. Yorba Linda (10-5, 8)

After first-round win over Servite, Mustangs lost three in a row in Orange Holiday Classic by total of 11 points.

10. Edison (12-3, 7)

Chargers lost to Villa Park in Max Preps Holiday Classic, but were victorious in other three tournament games.

Also receiving votes: Capistrano Valley Christian (11-4, 4); Esperanza (8-7, 2); Corona del Mar (11-4, 1); Crean Lutheran (9-3, 1)
