ORANGE COUNTY O.C. TOP 10

1. Mater Dei (10-1)

The Monarchs’ quest for an unprecedented fourth straight Nike Tournament of Champions title ended on day one when it suffered its first loss of the season to Our Lady of Good Counsel of Maryland. Mater Dei rebounded with a 10-point win over Miami Country Day of Florida on day two.

2. Brea Olinda (6-1)

The Ladycats also dropped their opening game at the Nike Tournament of Champions in Phoenix. Sophomore Krislyn Marsh scored 10 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in a second-round win over Sacred Heart (Kentucky).

3. Troy (6-2)

The Warriors won’t play this week, but will fly to Texas later in the week for the Sandra Meadows Classic, which starts next Monday.

4. Fairmont Prep (6-1)

The Huskies won a double-overtime thriller against Valley Vista of Arizona at the Nike TOC. Tristen Rollon scored 29 points and Cierra Hall added 26 in the victory.

5. Orangewood Academy (12-0)

Orangewood hosted and won the Spartan Classic over the weekend, knocking off Mark Keppel of Alhambra, 48-30, in the final. The Aztecs were an Open Division selection last season.

6. Orange Lutheran (4-2)

The Lancers will play in the Gahr/Lakewood Tournament this week before traveling to Phoenix for the Red Mountain Holiday Classic next Monday. Orange Lutheran has held their last two opponents to a combined 21 points.

7. Los Alamitos (8-3)

The Griffins have played one of the county’s toughest schedules to this point, having already taken on Mater Dei and Orangewood Academy. Los Al got its first win of the Nike TOC against Punahou of Hawaii behind double-digit scoring efforts from Cailyn Crocker, Dani Iwami and Brianna Flynn.

8. Sonora (10-0)

The Raiders remain unbeaten through the first month of the season, and have done so by winning four games by four points or less.

9. Canyon (9-0)

The Comanches won the Santa Ana Elks/Billy Tees Classic with a 46-42 overtime win over Foothill on Saturday. Senior Shayla Cohen scored 10 points, grabbed eight rebounds and dished out six assists.

10. Huntington Beach (8-1)

The Oilers’ lone loss came against Mater Dei in the Bill Kristinat Classic. They’ve won three in a row since, including their first two games of the Nike TOC.
