After sweeping through their first-round matches earlier in the week, the girls tennis teams for Corona del Mar, Dana Hills and Northwood each saw their team season come to the end Friday in the CIF USTA Southern California Regional Championships.

The Dolphins and the Timberwolves were knocked out in second-round play early in the day at the Claremont Club in Claremont. Dana Hills dropped a 4-3 decision to second-seeded Torrey Pines of San Diego, while Northwood was edged out by No. 3 seed Harvard-Westlake of Studio City, 5-2.

CdM survived the second round, topping Arcadia, 4-3. Sea Kings sophomore Danielle Willson notched the match’s decisive point, outdueling Lauren Ko, 3-6, 6-1, 7-5 to advance to the semifinals.

CdM lost to top-seeded Peninsula in the final four. The Panthers, a three-time defending CIF Division 1 champion, won all four of the match’s singles sets and one doubles for a 5-2 victory and a spot in the final.

Peninsula will play Torrey Pines at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Claremont Club.
