In CIF-SS girls tennis individual championships on Wednesday:
Villa Park’s Constance Branstine and Sunny Hills’ Christie Wan each advanced to Thursday’s CIF Individuals semifinals with a pair of victories on Wednesday afternoon at the Seal Beach Tennis Center.
In surviving the round of 16 and the quarterfinals, Branstine and Wan will face each other in the final four at 11 a.m. Coincidentally, these two met a year ago in the second round of individuals with Branstine winning a three-set affair, 6-7 (3), 6-2, 6-2.
The winner of the all-Orange County showdown will move on to the finals to play either San Marino’s Devon Jack or Peninsula’s Ena Shibahara, the two-time defending CIF singles champ.
No local doubles team advanced to Thursday’s semis. Corona del Mar’s Siena Sharf and Jasie Dunk dropped a tight match to Oaks Christian’s Sophie Bendetti and Emily Ackerman in the quarters, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.
