REDLANDS – Quarterback Quinn Commans ran for three touchdowns and threw for two more as Whittier Christian pounded Arrowhead Christian, 42-14, on Friday night at Redlands High.

It was quite the turnaround from last year’s matchup in Whittier. In that game it was Arrowhead Christian that blew out Whittier Christian, 57-21.

The Heralds (2-1) are off to their best start since the 2013 season when they started 3-0 and finished with a 6-4 overall record.

Commans completed 13 of 24 passes for 187 yards with touchdown passes of 40 and 9. He also managed 56 yards on the ground, including a 40-yard scramble. He had touchdown runs from 8 and 19 yards.

All together, Whittier Christian put together 476 yards from scrimmage.

Commans’ teammate, running back Justin Osborn, finished with 197 yards rushing on 15 attempts. He had a short TD run and turned a short screen pass into a 40-yard touchdown play early in the second quarter.

Osborn also tallied two sacks against Arrowhead Christian (1-2).

The game started on the wrong foot for Arrowhead Christian.

The Eagles fumbled on the opening kickoff, and the Heralds recovered at ACA’s 39. Four plays later, Osburn carried the ball in from 2 yards out.

After an Eagles 3-and-out, the Heralds needed just five plays to go 66 yards. Commans finished it off with a keeper 19 yards up the middle to put his team up 14-0.
