YORBA LINDA – – Daniel Chatman had a night to remember during Fairmont Prep’s homecoming game Friday night at Yorba Linda High.

Chatman had five receptions, all for touchdowns, for 140 yards as the Huskies defeated Riverside Prep, 43-14, in a nonleague game.

Huskies coach Fred Romo said his team is finally getting healthy and that helps Chatman get open.

“Teams have been able to key on him,” Romo said. “When we can get him to not be double-teamed, he does good things.”

Chatman did good things quickly. On the second play from scrimmage for the Huskies (2-4), the junior took a screen pass from Darwyn Gines and scampered 38 yards for the opening score to give Fairmont Prep a 6-0 lead.

Fairmont Prep recovered the ensuing onside kick and Gines found several different receivers on a five-play, 45-yard drive before he hooked up with Chatman for a 5-yard touchdown reception.

Gines had a great night as well as he completed 18 of 21 passes for 252 yards and six touchdowns. The junior also rushed for 41 yards and a touchdown on six carries.

The Huskies defense was stubborn, limiting Riverside Prep (1-6) to 160 yards. The Silver Knights were led by quarterback Owen McClure, who rushed for 51 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries.
