Heavyweights Jose Ballesteros (Laguna Hills) and Buena Park’s Jesse Gomez are out.

Abe Ochoa (Yorba Linda) got a takedown on Nick Nevills … then Nevills pinned him. Ochoa drops to consols.

Fernando Aguilar (El Modena) won by fall to remain in the tournament.

Jesse Gomez (Buena Park) tied 3-3 goes into OT against Gary Miltenberger of Fremont. In OT, Miltenberger got the 2 to advance to quarters. Gomez drops to consols.

Jose Ballesteros (Laguna Hills) tied 3-3 with 25 seconds left. gave up a latedown. he drops to consols.

4 of the 5 county heavyweights are in the consols.

Jeff Holsinger (Santa Margarita) suffers 10-1 defeat. drops to consols. Bryant Vasquez (FV) stays alive in the consols with 4-3 victory.

5:20 p.m.

Phillip O’Shea (Capistrano Valley) trailed in his match against Matt Weiss from Clovis, 5-1 in the third period before taking him down and getting the pin.

5:09 p.m.

Ben Madrid (Fountain Valley, 195) stays alive with a victory by fall.

If anybody asks what happened to the pizza box, don’t say anything.

4:58 p.m.

Kolton Osborn (Trabuco Hills) is out. Ryker Coppa (Marina) drops to consolations and so did Stone Escobedo (Fountain Valley).

It looks like Johnny Beltran (Servite) is also in the quarters. Whatever he did, he did it quickly.

Yup, it happened fast. Beltran by fall in 20 seconds.

Aaron Negrette (Calvary Chapel) advances to quarterfinals with 16-4 victory.

4:32 p.m.

Calvary Chapel’s Edgar Medina pinned. He drops down to the consolations at 152. Andrew Morgan (Fountain Valley, 152) is in the quarterfinals.

Gino Roman (El Dorado) gets a big 4-point move (takedown and near fall) for 6-3 lead going into the third. He advances to quarters with 9-4 victory.

Luke Troy (Calvary Chapel, 138) drops to consolations. Trevor Perez (Mater Dei) picks up another consolation victory to stay alive (7-0). Michael Villegas (Irvine) cuts it close again, this time 3-2 to stay alive in consolation bracket. 

3:57 p.m.

JJ Reed (Servite) stays alive with 6-4 victory. Cunningham (Calvary Chapel) drops to consolation. Joseph Singleton (Valencia) is still alive.

3:37 p.m.

Russell Rohlfing (Sonora) advances to quarterfinals. Noah Blakely (Servite) is out.

2:48 p.m.

Bryant Vasquez (Fountain Valley) stays alive with 4-0 consolation victory over 220. Cameron Amador (Servite, heavyweight) is done.

2:38 p.m.

Ben Madrid (Fountain Valley) stays in the tournament with a consolation victory at 195. San Clemente’s Mike Marshall (170) is the first county wrestler eliminated.

JJ Reed (Servite, 138) and Mater Dei’s Trevor Perez (145) still alive thanks to consolation victories.

Michael Villegas (145, Irvine) going to OT against Antonio Gutierrez of Bakersfield. Villegas wins with a takedown to stay alive.

Heavyweight update: Cameron Amador (Servite) lost. Jose Ballesteros (Laguna Hills) won, so did Yorba Linda’s Abe Ochoa.

Buena Park’s Jesse Gomez also won his 1st match, 3-1.

Johnny Beltran (Servite, 182), Aaron Negrette (Calvary Chapel, 160) won their first match. As did Marina’s Ryker Coppa (170) and Fountain Valley’s Stone Escobedo.

Capistrano Valley’s Phillip O’Shea (195) wins again.

Woodbridge’s Emu Anaim lost his first match.

12:18 p.m.

Talk about a tough opener. Fountain Valley’s Andrew Morgan’s first match is against third-ranked Tyler Zimmer of Clovis West.

Morgan and Zimmer are tied 2-2. Morgan and ZImmer are in OT. Morgan pulls off the OT victory. 4-2.

Edgar Medina rolls with a technical fall victory.

JJ Reed (Servite, 138) dropped a 3-0 decision. Luke Troy (Calvary Chapel) won his first match. Gino Roman (El Dorado) with a 10-8 victory in his first match.

Noah Blakely (Servite, 126) lost his first match. Sonora’s Russell Rohlfing (120) won his first match. Peter Cunningham (Calvary Chapel, 132) is up big. He won 13-2.

Michael Rangel (Calvary Chapel) wins 2-1 in his first match. Woodbridge’s Scott Ha lost to a Buchanan kid 13-0.
