Ricardo Cepeda has been promoted to head coach of the Garden Grove football team.
Cepeda, who is also the baseball coach at Garden Grove, was the football team’s defensive coordinator this past season. He has also served as its offensive coordinator.
Garden Grove athletic director Ralph Stevens said Cepeda will continue to coach baseball.
Stevens said Cepeda was a natural choice to replace Willy Puga, who resigned last month. Puga coached the Argonauts to three CIF championship games in his four seasons.
“It’s an easy transition for the kids,” Stevens said. “We’re going to keep running the same offense and defense we’ve been running.”
