GARDEN GROVE – Jesse Carrasco’s three rushing touchdowns led the way as Century triumphed over Bolsa Grande, 35-14, Thursday in a nonleague game at Bolsa Grande High.

The Centurions (1-2) executed their triple-option attack perfectly, rushing for 341 yards. Carrasco had a game-high 201 yards, and Jimmy Gutierrez added 123 yards on the ground.

“It’s a great feeling, but I couldn’t do it without my linemen,” Carrasco said. “I just sacrificed my body the way they sacrifice for me.”

Hector Nava had three interceptions (two in the first half) to help the Centurions take a 14-0 lead at the half.

Juan Agustin added to the Century lead with a 2-yard run to start the third quarter.

The Matadors (0-3) retaliated with the first of two long passing scores. Francisco Cardenas got open behind the defense for a 72-yard touchdown pass from Reno Lace.

Rushing scores from Gutierrez and Carrasco allowed the Centurions to open up a 35-7 lead midway through the fourth quarter.

Lace connected with Andres Arreola on a 65-yard touchdown to bring Bolsa Grande closer. The Matadors recovered the onside kick, but the Centurions’ defense thwarted the Matadors’ ensuing drive at the Century 10.

Ruben Triscareno had two sacks, and Mike Soria recorded three tackles for a loss for Century.
