The Monarchs are in the semifinals, thanks to a big performance from La Cavera (UC Irvine) Saturday night. Against top-seeded Mira Costa of Manhattan Beach, La Cavera recorded 35 kills as the Monarchs advanced with the 29-27, 20-25, 25-14, 18-25, 15-9 victory. La Cavera started the playoffs with a 12-kill performance in a first-round sweep of Huntington Beach.
