Carbaugh is a second-year varsity player who serves as one of the Spartans’ captains and plays attacker. He also swims butterfly on the varsity swim team. Carbaugh is taking four AP classes and a linear algebra and differential equations course at Santiago Canyon College. He is editor-in-chief of the yearbook but is interested in pursuing chemical engineering in college. His top college picks are MIT, Cal Tech and Cal. Carbaugh was selected the American Chemical Society outstanding chemistry student for Orange County in the spring. Over the summer, he completed a two-month lab internship in the neurobiology department at UC Irvine. He also is a member of the National Honor Society and Science Olympiad.
