The 6-foot-4 dual-sport star lit up the scoreboard this weekend in the Santa Ana Elks/Billy Tees Classic at Segerstrom High, with a season-high 39 points and 17 rebounds in CdM’s (6-3) 58-54 loss to Valencia on Friday. She followed up that performance with 30 points and 15 rebounds against host Segerstrom in a 55-31 win Saturday. She had a double-double in each tournament game and averaged 24.3 points and 14 rebounds. Also a standout in volleyball, Bruening is being recruited by Division I colleges in both sports.
