ANAHEIM – It was Jorge Briseno’s birthday on Friday night. Little did Anaheim know, but the Santa Ana senior running back apparently had planned quite the party at Glover Stadium.

Briseno was spectacular for the Saints, scoring six touchdowns, four rushing and two through the air, in a 45-14 rout over the Colonists.

He quickly reversed what had actually been a rather auspicious start for Anaheim (1-1), a 13-play, 79-yard march that ate up 6 minutes, 42 seconds of clock and ended in a 2-yard touchdown run by quarterback Brandon Lopez.

It was almost all Briseno – either junior quarterback Jonathan, or Jorge – after that. The two accounted for all but 64 of Santa Ana’s 468 yards of offense and were responsible for each of the Saints’ (2-0) six touchdowns, only two of which came on plays of less than 30 yards.

Jorge was brilliant throughout, running for 273 yards and four touchdowns on 25 carries, scoring on runs of 65, 51, 26 and 15 yards. Had Jonathan Briseno not had a pair of touchdowns nullified due to holding penalties, he would have piled up four scores.

He settled for two, including a 70-yard bomb to Jorge to end the first half.
