OCVarsity’s team preview for 2015:

BREA OLINDA WILDCATS

Coach: Robb Perrance

Last season: 6-6 overall, 2-1 league

Scouting report: No team posed a greater threat to Garden Grove in its 2014 championship run than Brea, which felt like it simply ran out of time in a 21-18 quarterfinal affair. Back from that team are starting quarterback Nick Drury, running back Michael Martinson and North Hills League defensive player of the year Zach Arnold. “We’ve got some really talented kids who logged quite a bit of time in the offseason and have looked outstanding,” Coach Robb Perrance said. “Our linemen just have to come through.” Brea brings back only one starting offensive lineman in center Braden Baker and one defensive lineman in Brandon Legendre, meaning there will be seven fresh faces up front. Chemistry on the line will take some time to develop, but a season after seeing just how close it came to doing something special, Perrance and his players appear capable of taking that next step in the postseason.

Bottom line: With a set of proven skill position players on both sides of the ball, the Wildcats become serious Southern Division title contenders if they can receive quality play from the big guys in the trenches.

Players to watch: Zach Arnold, LB, Sr.; Malik Campbell, CB, Sr.; Andrew Chammas, S, Sr.; Nick Drury, QB, Sr.; Brandon Legendre, DE, Sr.; Michael Martinson, RB, Jr.
