DeFalco selected to play for U.S. in Pan-Am Games

Two-time Register boys volleyball player of year TJ DeFalco (Huntington Beach High) was selected to the 12-man U.S. roster for the upcoming Pan American Games.

The U.S. will compete in Pool B with Canada Mexico and Puerto Rico.

Pool A consists of Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Cuba.

The U.S. will open play against Puerto Rico on July 17, followed by matches against Mexico (July 19) and Canada (July 21).

UC Irvine opposite hitter Zack La Cavera, who was the county player of the year in 2011 from Mater Dei, is also on the roster. La Cavera was the 2015 MPSF Player of the year for the Anteaters.

UC Irvine libero Michael Brinkley (Edison High) and Loyola of Chicao outside hitter Cody Caldwell (Newport Harbor High) are also on the roster. Caldwell has helped Loyola to consecutive NCAA titles. He was the 2014 Most Outstanding Player of the NCAA Tournament.

Brinkley earned first team All-MPSF honors this season.
