Previews for Saturday’s CIF-SS boys volleyball championship matches.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Division 1

No. 1 Huntington Beach (36-0) vs. Corona del Mar (28-6)

Where, when: Cerritos College, Saturday, 7:30 p.m.

Outlook: The teams met earlier this season in the finals of the Orange County Championships with the Oilers winning the best two of three match, 25-21, 25-19. Aside from two regular-season losses to Loyola, the loss to Huntington Beach, is the only defeat CdM has had since late March. It took a team effort for the Sea Kings to upset second-seeded Loyola in the semifinals. Ryan Moss had 14 kills. Kevin Fults had 10 and 14 digs. Matt Ctvrtlik had 38 assists, four kills and six digs. “We’re excited to get another shot and play a team like Huntington Beach,” CdM coach Steve Conti said. “To beat them, it is going to take our best match of the season.”

Division 4

Saddleback Valley Christian (27-4) vs. St. Margaret’s (18-6)

Where, when: Cerritos College, Saturday, 11:30 a.m.

Outlook: The teams met in April in a nonleague match, with the Warriors winning (25-20, 25-22, 251-12). Both teams have been perfect during their playoff run, sweeping all of their matches. Senior opposite Matt Nicholas is averaging 15 kills a match in the playoff. Nicholas had 17 kills in the semifinal victory over Flintridge Prep. Brent Cahill had six with six blocks. The Tartans most recent CIF title came in 2010 when they defeated Arrowhead Christian in the Division 5 final.
