The defending CIF-SS Division 4 1,600 champion prepared for a chance to repeat by finishing with the best overall time (4:22.66) at the CIF-SS Division 4 preliminaries Saturday. Gaudreau, who currently holds the seventh best 1,600 time in the county this season, also finished with the top qualifying time in the 3,200.
