Biedgoly's completions are painful for Estancia
COSTA MESA - Beckman quarterback Cameron Biedgoly completed just 5 of 10 passes Friday night, but nearly every one drove a dagger in the hearts of Estancia’s defense.
The first — a short 3-yard reception — led to nothing but a stalled drive, the Patriots' lone possession that didn’t lead to a touchdown.
The second — a 26-yarder to James Kaprelian — gave Beckman a first-and-10 at the Eagles 15 midway through the first quarter. Five plays, later Biedgoly snuck in for a 1-yard score to give the Patriots its first lead of the game at 7-3.

“In all 13 games Cameron has played this season, he has improved in every game,” Patriots first-year coach Ken Mushinskie said. “He’s a senior leader, doing what a senior leader should be doing.”
Admittedly, Biedgoly — who finished with 195 yards — is not fleet of foot. But the 6-foot-2, 220-pound right-hander showed off just enough nifty footwork to allow him to elude the rush and complete his next two passes for long scores.
“I’m not going to tell you what my (40-yard dash) time,” he said after the game. “It’s that bad.”
Trailing, 10-7, in the second quarter, Biedgoly went back to pass on a third-and-10 from the Eagles’ 36. He was immediately harassed by four Estancia linemen.
He rolled to his right, stepped forward, and then moved to his left before finding Ryan Molina for a 64-yard touchdown that gave the Patriots a lead it would never relinquish.
“That’s Cameron right there,” said senior wideout James Kaprelian. “We know when we see him scrambling that we need to work hard to get open. He could have a guy on his leg and another on his shoulder, but he still finds a way to get us the ball.”
The next touchdown pass was nearly a carbon copy of his previous one. Again, seemingly on his way down for a sack, Biedgoly stepped up in the pocket, rolled to his left and found Kaprelian for a 79-yard strike.
Ahead, 36-13, in the third, Biedgoly essentially put the game on ice by completing a nine-play drive — the first eight plays on the ground — with a 23-yard strike to Brian Brooks.
“It might look like I’m doing all the work, but the offensive line did a great job tonight,” said Biedgoly. “There’s a chemistry among us. They seem to know where I’m going to move, and I know where they’re going to block.
“The whole team has chemistry. We all come together. It just happens to be on Friday nights.”
