DIAMOND BAR – Sophomore quarterback Alex Ashcraft threw a touchdown in his first start and Jacob Mercado rushed for more than 100 yards and a score, but the visiting Centurions fell to Diamond Bar, 27-13, in a nonleague game Friday night.
Ashcraft tossed a 35-yard touchdown to Noah Zuzuarregui in the second half.
Linebackers Nick Williams and Zach Gonzales led the Cypress defense.
Diamond Bar led, 20-0, at halftime but the Centurions (1-3) limited Diamond Bar (4-1) to seven points in the second half.
