VILLA PARK SPARTANS
Coach: Dusan Ancich (sixth year, 48-14)
Last season: 9-3 overall, 5-1 league
Scouting report: How good can the Spartans be? That is the only real question surrounding this year’s squad. Villa Park returns 15 starters, including eight on defense, six of which were All-Century League performers. Points will be hard to come by against middle linebacker Xavier Hernandez and teammates. Offensively, Villa Park is stacked at the skill positions. Roman Chaves was an all-league running back as a sophomore, and the team will be six-deep at the receiver position, which includes three-year starter Kyle Harlin. Senior quarterback Anthony Navarro saw limited action last season, but he has a talented core surrounding him. Look for Villa Park to advance deep into the postseason if it stays healthy.
