ESPERANZA AZTECS

Coach: Gary Bowers (second year, 4-6)

Last season: 4-6 overall, 3-3 league

Outlook: The Aztecs embody the attitude of their coach, Gary Bowers, a former offensive lineman. Esperanza is an old-school bunch that likes to run the football and play solid defense. The team’s veteran offensive line will block for running backs Patrick Campos, Brian Estes and Conner McKeen. The key for the Aztecs will be the passing game. Junior Trevor Markowitz is in his first season as the team’s starting quarterback, and collectively, his receiving corps has zero varsity catches. That puts a ton of pressure on the defense to keep games close.
